About Us
Vikasaarth means ‘for development’. It believes that it is essential to work in extreme and hard to reach areas.

A small group of women with considerable experience in the development sector and more importantly, possessing keen interest to contribute to the development of the state came together to form an organization of women under the banner of Vikasaarth. Registered under Indian Charitable Trust Act in April 2010, Vikasaarth is a not-for-profit organization formed with the central idea of promoting women empowerment especially among the poor in order to address the issues affecting poor living standard of the women and children in Bihar.
The organization is managed by a five-member Executive Committee comprising of President, Secretary, Treasurer and two general members.
Apart from the project team members, Vikasaarth has a pool of resource persons comprising professional development workers, academicians, activists, grassroots workers, students and volunteers. The key expertise that the team possesses includes: Conceptualizing and operationalizing development programs; social mobilization and livelihoods promotion; use of participatory methods in implementation of development projects; undertaking research, studies, planning and evaluation exercises; creative communication, documentation and designing; and undertaking capacity building and training.
Vikasaarth aims to act as a helping hand to the development agencies of government and non- government entities engaged in the thematic areas of women and child health, primary education, livelihoods promotion and humanitarian aid through short as well as long term support. The group believes that it is essential to work in the extreme and hard to reach areas and therefore assignment in such areas would be given high priority by the group.
